What is Worker’s Compensation Insurance?
Workers’ Comp insurance is no-fault insurance system, providing coverage for you and your business for most on-the-job injuries your employees may sustain. The program is a trade-off which limits your absolute liability for work-related illness and injuries associated with your employees. State laws vary. But most (including California, where Inclán Insurance is based), requires any company that has employees to carry some form of this type of insurance. If your employee is injured while on the job, this policy would provide benefits including, but not limited to: temporary disability, medical-related expenses, permanent disability (if awarded).
Avoid These Common Mistakes:
- Failure to carry sufficient worker’s compensation insurance
- Allowing your coverage to lapse.
Since the State of California requires Worker’s Comp insurance for any employees, you must have such coverage as long as your business is operational. Failure to provide such coverage could undermine your entire operation, in the event your employee is injured on the job and incurs associated medical costs. In fact, you could face additional liability in such an event, in the way of fees levied by the state and/or if the employee files a lawsuit.
